Description
In the line of duty, the only thing more dangerous than betrayal is falling for each other.
Working with Michael is like running through a minefield. He’s a seasoned veteran who wears his bitterness like armor, and I can feel the weight of his judgment pressing down on me.
To him, I’m just another naïve rookie with too much to prove, but I refuse to back down.
I can’t ignore the gnawing suspicion that something isn’t right, especially when rumors of corruption taint the precinct. He despises my idealism and questions my every move, but I have my own doubts about his past and what he’s hiding.
Despite our differences, the tension between us crackles with a dangerous attraction that I can’t shake off.
As we edge closer to each other, the stakes get higher, and I uncover a betrayal buried deep within our ranks.
The line between trust and suspicion blurs, and I start to wonder: Is Michael the one who’s betrayed me, or are we both being played?

Everything fit perfectly in this well-crafted police-romance novel – from the chemistry between Laura and Michael, to the blend of action, romance, and suspense. The case at hand was intricately described, keeping me on the edge of my seat with each new clue uncovered. I highly recommend this story to those who enjoy a thrilling mix of crime and romance.
Laura, my favorite character, stood out for her resilience and strength in overcoming a troubled past. She serves as a beacon of hope for others facing similar challenges, all while excelling as a confident detective. Michael, on the other hand, shares similarities with the beloved “Gibbs” from NCIS, especially in his unwavering determination to seek justice for his late wife’s murder. Their partnership is not without its bumps, but as they work together to solve the case, their dynamic and personal growth shine through.
In summary, this novel is masterfully written, striking the perfect balance between length and depth. It is a captivating read that will leave you eagerly turning the pages until the very end.
